This project will construct the third phase of Christopher Newport University’s (CNU) state-of-the-art Integrated Science Center (ISC), a 74,275 gross sf addition to Luter Hall. This addition will expand and enhance opportunities for CNU’s students in high-demand STEM disciplines and will provide technology-rich instructional space for Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Management, Kinesiology, and Neuroscience programs. The building will accommodate state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories, classrooms, and maker spaces, as well as opportunities for cross disciplinary and faculty-student interaction and collaboration.

Features of the ISC include:

  • A state-of-the-art 100-seat demonstration classroom for chemistry, physics and engineering experiments and research.
  • Specialized classroom space, an exercise science lab, and a biomechanics lab for kinesiology.
  • A two-story lab to develop and test unmanned aircraft systems and other robotics.
  • A makerspace, including 3D printing and space to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and connect with the professional community.

The project will also include renovating approx. 10-15,000 sf of area within the existing Luter Hall.
