LifeNet Health Corporate Center & Organ and Bone Tissue Processing Facility, Virginia Beach, Virginia
PACE Collaborative is proud to have provided the mechanical and electrical engineering design services as part of the design-build team for the new LifeNet Health Corporate Center facilities in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The campus includes a 120,000 SF 2-story Organ and Bone Tissue Processing Facility and Corporate Headquarters Building (Phase 1).
The buildings include sterile processing facilities, ten (10) class 10,000 clean rooms, cryogenic freezers with backup of liquid nitrogen injection, wet labs, biomedical labs, fume hoods, data storage, HEPA filtration, under floor air displacement system, compressed air, vacuum, nitrogen and carbon dioxide piped systems, direct digital controls, call center, administrative offices, training and conference facilities.
HVAC systems consist of four air-handling units to support a VAV system including hot and chilled water piping distribution. Building electrical service is 5000A, 480/277V 3-phase, 4 wire with emergency power system provided by two 2,500kW emergency generators. The generators were connected with paralleling gear and sized to carry the entire building load. Also, a central uninterruptible power supply (UPS) was provided for the IT room. Special lighting was provided in lobby areas and special operations spaces such as clean rooms, laboratories, and sterile processing departments. Clean rooms and corridors were illuminated to 150 FC average maintained with recessed wet location fluorescent troffers. The facility fire alarm system is a fully addressable type system, and the building is fully sprinklered.
