The SMOC expanded to a new 23,955 square foot single, story location in Chesapeake, VA. The project includes a PT gym, exam rooms, and imaging suite.

The building is served by a 800-amp, 480/277-volt, 3-phase, 4-wire electrical service via a 800-amp rated panelboard.  The lighting for the building is provided by a combination of LED and fluorescent lighting.  An automatic daylight harvesting system controls light fixtures within the PT gym area to take advantage of the natural daylight through the perimeter storefront windows.  Emergency egress lighting is provided via a central inverter system located in the main electrical room.  Offices are equipped with occupancy controlled receptacles to comply with ASHRAE 90.1.

The mechanical system consists of a 75 ton packaged variable sir volume rooftop unit with gas heat and direct expansion cooling coil. The system utilizes Series Fan Powered Variable Volume Terminal Units with electric reheat at the zone level.  A Building Automation System was included to control the HVAC, lighting, and building operation.  Air distribution is accomplished utilizing a combination of internally insulated spiral wound round ductwork with sidewall grilles and sidewall mounted linear slot diffusers to serve the building a majority of which is without hung ceilings.
