PACE engineers provided the mechanical and electrical engineering services for a new Administration Building as well as main entry access with guardhouse, and temporary office spaces for STIHL, Inc. USA in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The new 3-story, 79,491 square foot headquarters building features the Stihl museum combined with a two story lobby, a concept store, a 300-seat auditorium dividable into three separate conference spaces, a cafe, Stihl office functions, and flexible shared conference rooms and collaboration areas. There is also a technical demonstration area and a training area where Stihl can provide live demonstrations and hands on training of their product.

The integration of the mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems was carefully designed in accordance with the very specific STIHL corporate criteria. Occupant thermal comfort is provided by (2) 30,000 cfm roof top air handlers with shut-off variable air volume terminal units. Building heat is generated by (2) high efficiency condensing boilers and distribution pumps equipped with variable frequency drives.

The Administration building features a 1,600-amp, 480/277-volt electrical service, has a 500kW on-site natural gas generator for partial back-up, and provisions for connection of a portable generator to provide full building back-up. With 100% LED lighting and state of the art lighting controls, the facility is not just eye-catching, but is also extremely energy efficient.
